In the ABT-Huygen-L3Q combination, L3Q has won the European tender for the design work for the renovation of the SL2 building in the Utrecht Science Park.
Together with Utrecht University and Newjoy Concepts, we are working as an integral design team on this assignment, where we will make the technical installations, the lab design, the building envelope and the interior suitable for use in the next 15 years.
The building, built in 1968, is located at Sorbonnelaan 2 and was previously used by the SRON research institute. Utrecht University purchased it in 2022 to have more room for the growth of the Faculty of Science.
SL2 has features that make the building extremely suitable for laboratories with related offices. The building offers approx. 4,250 m2 of floor space, of which approx. 1,800 m2 for various types of lab spaces. SL2 will house six research groups.
