Phase 2A, Gorlaeus building

The Gorlaeus building, part of the Science Campus Leiden, is a leading research and education facility that will be realised in several phases. After the completion of phase 1 in 2016, phase 2A is completed by the end of 2023. This impressive building, located in the Leiden Bio Science Park, offers various laboratory spaces, including chemical labs, didactic labs, astrophysics labs, laser labs and practical rooms.

The client for this project is Leiden University, together with INBO and JHK Architects, responsible for the architectural design. The building covers a total area of approximately 30,000 m², of which 15,000 m² is intended for laboratories.

L3Q has focused on the preparation of the lab book and the commissioning of the laboratories. These labs are equipped with various utilities, including seven types of gases and demineralised water, to enable a wide range of scientific research and educational activities.

The project was completed in December 2023, with S+B Groep as the VLI supplier. With the completion of phase 2A, the Gorlaeus building offers a modern and versatile environment that contributes to groundbreaking research and education within Leiden University.
