Laboratory Furniture

The design of Laboratory Furniture starts early in the design process, in order to have influence and take into account the facilities that need to be installed. By mapping out the user processes, we know at an early stage what the lab will look like. This design process is phased in three steps:

Sketch Design (SO)

In the sketch design phase, a floor plan is drawn up at department level. In this phase, reservations (function strips) are drawn for functional space – space intended for laboratory benches, furniture and equipment. In addition, choices are made on how to decouple the facilities from the benches, and it is determined which type of furniture will be used.

Preliminary design (VO)

In the Preliminary Design, we determine the lab facilities, the gases, various types of water and power collection points. In this design phase, we look at fitting in the necessary furniture and appliances. We also map all air users, such as fume hoods and extraction points. An air list is drawn up, which is the basis for the installation design.

Final Design (DO)

In the Final Design, the MEP facilities are further determined, with input from the users. The materialisation, colour scheme and detailing of tables and cabinets is determined. In this phase, undercounter cabinets and pocket points are also designed, which we do in 3D so that a realistic image of the lab can be shown. At the end of this phase, the design drawings, technical specification and request document are ready.

Tendering and construction supervision

When the design is ready, the request documents for the Laboratory Furniture can be made. We make the request on the basis of previously made documents and compare the providers with each other, in order to select at the right supplier Laboratory Furniture with you as the client. Once a supplier has been selected, we hand over the design and production drawings are made by the supplier. We then check the production drawings and supervise during the construction phase, so that delivery and commissioning runs smoothly.
